I'm real cynical on this subject. I think, and there is no way I can prove it, that whenever some high ranking figure in the society is facing a medical problem with a forbidden treatment the powers that be get together and remove the restrictions.

This may be a bit of a long shot. Did you (or the previous owner) extend the warranty when the car was purchased? If an extended warranty was bought it may have expired already, but sometimes it pays to look through the glove box for warranty documents.

Bush is secretly planning the construction of a multi-modal supercorridor expressway going from Mexico to Canada, in his effort to bring the North American Continent under his control as the North American Community ( or North American Union ).
NASCO has come up in a couple of other threads on this board. NASCO is also a subject of debate where I live as one of the terminals, according to the maps I've looked at, is in my city. I thought the whole thing was implausible, but who am I? So I decided to contact my Congressional delegation to find out if there is anything to the rumors. I asked about NASCO and the Amero. James Oberstar, a Democrat, responded to my question. Oberstar has been on the House Transportation Committee for years and I think starting today he will chair that committee. Oberstar's response is below:
Thank you for your e-mail. I appreciate hearing from you.
Your e-mail referenced two myths that have been spread by organizations that are intent on frightening patriotic Americans. These organizations use President Bush's participation in the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SSP) of North America as the basis for these myths.
That being said, I have concerns about President Bush's SSP plan. In a joint statement issued on March 23, 2005, President Bush, Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin and Mexican President Vicente Fox announced the establishment of the "Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America" (SPP). The three North American leaders said the security and prosperity of their nations are "mutually dependent and complementary." According to the statement, the three countries will implement common border-security strategies, enhance infrastructure protection, implement a common approach to emergency response, implement improvements to aviation and maritime security, enhance intelligence partnerships, combat transnational threats, and implement a border-facilitation strategy. A report released on June 27, 2005, lists some 20 different working groups spanning a wide variety of issues ranging from e-commerce, to aviation policy, to borders and immigration, involving the activity of multiple U.S. government agencies.
The trilateral agreement, signed as a joint declaration, was not submitted to Congress for review. I am not aware of any specific federal legislation authorizing the SPP working groups, nor has any congressional committee been given oversight authority. Further, membership of the working groups, as well as their work products, have not been published anywhere, including on the Internet.
It is concerning that President Bush has chosen to utilize a "joint declaration" as a means to cherry pick the provisions of the Constitution by which he chooses to abide. The SPP is only one of a number of examples where President Bush has ignored the constitutionally-mandated separation of powers between the executive and legislative branches or has not executed sections of laws passed by Congress. Although the President has repeatedly usurped his authority and expanded the power of the executive branch, the Republican majority in Congress has chosen to turn a blind eye to these developments.
While I, along with many other members of Congress, will call for greater oversight of the Bush administration in the next two years, there is no need to panic about the SPP. When Democrats become the majority party in the 110th Congress, rest assured that my colleagues and I will do our level best to reestablish Congress as an equal partner in this nation's governance.
If you would like to receive periodic e-mail updates on issues before Congress, please visit my Web site, www.house.gov/oberstar, and go to "subscribe."
With best wishes,
Sincerely,
James L. Oberstar, M.C.

QUESTIONS FROM READERS----CHECK THIS OUT!
by Mary inseeing as i have the wt in front of me today, i thought you'd enjoy the questions from readers from the february 15, 2007 article on the evils and pagan origins on toasting or clinking of glasses.
the article specifically mentions how not everything today that was of pagan origin is necessarily bad, and sites "wedding rings" as being of pagan origin, but it's not viewed like that now.
then, incredibly, they go on and say that while toasting might not be considered a religious practice today, there's "good reason" for christians to avoid it------without giving any valid reason why other than: do as we say:.

There is so much in every day life that can be traced to paganism. The days of the week all have pagan roots: Sun-day, Moon-day, Tiw's-day, Woden's-day, Thor's-day, Freyja-day, Saturn-day. The GB should make up a QFR regarding "true christians" using a calendar.
I wonder why the GB picks on toasting? I'd guess because a) toasting is usually kind of fun and b) toasting makes someone feel special, both no-no's in JW land. Did the GB make up this QFR because this is the time of year people start planning weddings and grad parties? I noticed that the answer to the fictional QFR stresses toasting with alcohol only. If the glasses being clinked together are filled with non-alcoholic wine is the toast then non-pagan and acceptable?
The answer did refer to the practice of lifting one's hands to God. Have you ever heard a JW mock people of other faiths for raising hands during their services? So what is the right attitude toward raising one's hands during worship? Is it right or wrong? I'm really glad that I don't have to try keeping all this BS straight anymore.
Cheers!!

WHO'S 40 OR NEARLY 40!!!!!
by bubble inhi everybody and happy new year.
2007 is the year i turn 40, in fact in exactly one month's time to be precise.. i've noted that a lot of people on jwd are a similar age to me.
i think it's because it takes us this long to pluck up the courage to finally leave the borg.. i need to know how turning 40 makes you feel.

Forty is not the new 30. I happened to be watching Oprah (I was at home nursing a cold) and heard Oprah declare, "Forty is the new 25."
I'm in my 40's and I believe firmly in growing old disgracefully.

Actually, that is not true at all.
I believe that many who have been involved in debates and 'arguments' on this Board over the years will admit to have learned a great deal in the joustabout.
Winning arguments of of little interest to me, as it is often through the vigorous defence of a point of view that some realities are gained, but the reality which may have evaded you is that there are some on this Board who know their stuff and have put effort into informing themselves, then others who are too lazy to do anything but hit the 'enter' button with minimal thought.
Nothing to do with being 'retarded', more to do with intellectual laziness. It is a pattern played out over much of the worlds communication these days, and has all to do with handing out degrees by the millions to anyone with straight teeth and shares in a fast food chain and making millionaires of anyone prepared to display their ignorance in public without blushing.

Its interesting to see where threads like this go. Its really entertaining when people start questioning each others intelligence. People calling each other morons and idiots in Cyberspace. That always makes me LOL! Like the saying goes (really un-PC and offensive to some), "Arguing on the Internet is like running in the Special Olympics. Even if you win you're still retarded." Thanks for the chuckle guys.

The last few years have been very low key. Going out lost its appeal for a number of reasons - too crowded, too many DUI road blocks (not that I condone driving drunk but it doesn't take much to reach .08), maybe some anti-social tendencies rearing their ugly heads. But this year I'm going to the local New Years Eve Extravaganza (yes, an Extravaganza) with people dressed in tuxedos and evening gowns, a balloon drop at midnight w/ champagne, three bands, food...pretty much the kind of event I steer way clear of. Why would I of all people attend something like this? Well, a couple of nights ago I ran into a woman I barely know at a bar. We had a couple of drinks and chatted for a while. When I was getting ready to leave she asked me, out of the blue, what I was doing for New Years Eve. A beautiful woman asking me, a lump of coal if there ever was one, out to the New Years Eve Extravaganza. Why, one might ask, would a beautiful woman ask frozen one out to the so called "social event of the year." Personally I never ask questions like that as they are self defeating. All I know is that in a couple of hours I'll be putting on some clothes of mine that are the nearest thing to a tuxedo that I could put together on such short notice and then I'll hit the town with a beautiful woman on my arm on our way to the Extravaganza. Hope all of you have fun, too.
Happy New Year everyone.
